The story behind the C'est du nanan logo
The C'est du nanan logo is a design that symbolizes the commitment and passion of our confectionery shop. Founded in 2009, our confectionery shop has been making sweets that utilize modern creativity while cherishing traditional Japanese culture. This logo is filled with our spirit.
The logo design combines "Wachigai Usagi" (The Rabbit), created by the Edo period ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai when he was 65 years old, with the "Embracing Rice Crest" (Embracing Rice Crest), which symbolizes rice, the main ingredient of our sweets. The Embracing Rice Crest symbolizes rice, a plant that has been familiar and important to Japanese people since ancient times, and is a traditional pattern that has been used as the sacred crest of Inari Shrines and Kumano Shrines throughout the country, as well as among priests and parishioners. Through this rice crest, we express that our sweets, which use rice flour as the main ingredient, pay tribute to Japan's rich food culture and traditions.
We also incorporated a play on words, "Watsunagi Usa Usagi," into the logo. This symbolizes our desire for a kinder world where rings of different shapes and sizes come together and we can all prosper together while caring for one another. This "Wachigai" pattern shows the beauty of being connected in harmony, while each ring represents a separate world. The way the different rings join together to create one world embodies our respect for diversity and our desire for coexistence.
Hokusai's "The Rabbit" is a work that embodies the uniquely Japanese aesthetic sense, and had a great influence on 19th century European artists. Its originality and beauty continue to be loved by people all over the world even today. Inheriting Hokusai's spirit, we would like to deliver the beauty and kindness of Japan to everyone through our sweets.
We hope that through C'est du nanan sweets, we can provide you with moments of relaxation and joy, and that we can help you take a small step towards a world where we can all prosper together in harmony with each other. We will continue to work hard every day.
We hope you will feel at least a little familiar with our logo design, which reflects our commitment since our founding and our respect for traditional Japanese culture.
